Jessica Helgerson Interior Design is an internationally recognized firm that creates award-winning work for clients such as Tusk, Parachute, and Stumptown. We partnered with JHID to help articulate their transition from an individual-led vision to a team-led practice.

Transparent in nature, the JHID brand showcases photography without taking center stage. Our team was inspired by the classic typographic principle of the “crystal goblet,” coined by designer Beatrice Warde in 1956, which promotes a reserved and unobtrusive form of typography that reveals rather than obscures.

The brand's transparent nature extends to the digital environment where it becomes a container for JHID's work to truly shine. As the brand lives quietly in the background, viewers are immersed into a full-screen sensory world of texture, color and tactility. Even the navigation defers to the content, adapting color to the background photo to remain as unobtrusive as possible.

In environmental signage, collateral, and digital applications, the brand lockup speaks to space and form, while the upright, architectural letterforms reflect JHID's integrity and strong founding principles. Much like the work they're known for, JHID's brand may appear effortless and subtle at first, but upon closer inspection, each detail is meticulously and intentionally crafted.

An emphasis on tactile experience extends to JHID's calling cards and printed collateral, where the weight of white cotton paper contrasts with the delicate black gloss of a letterpress impression.
